Supporting Local Charities
The Wachusett Valley Folk Festival is very supportive of local charities. We have supported the Item Appeal through the years and will continue to do so with this festival. A percentage of all tickets sales in Clinton MA will go to the Item Appeal which helps folks in 5 towns: Berlin, Bolton, Clinton, Lancaster and Sterling.

History of The Item Appeal
The Item Appeal was founded in 1976 by Bill Coulter and a group of concerned residents. It was known as the Christmas Appeal, until it became more universal.
Town and school nurses were some of the first representatives, and still form the backbone of those who work with people in the community.
The volunteers are the ones who guarantee that 100 percent of the money brought in goes back out in the community.
In 2005 we formed our first Item Appeal Board; previously, our representatives were the board members. However, with changing priorities, including greater need and natural disasters around the world that have drawn donations to those areas of the world, a board was brought together to coordinate fund raising and deal with policy issues. This has increased the volunteer base working for the Appeal.
